ANZAC Day 2021 Pin raising awareness for Open Arms & Funds for Legacy.

ANZAC Day has changed over the last few years.

If it is in your driveway, back yard or sneaking out with a few mates, we never stop commemorating our fallen heroes on this important day.

We want to bring back the ANZAC “A” Badge for All Veterans, Family’s and ANZAC Day Supports to wear during the month of April, in particular ANZAC Day 2021.

The “A” small ANZAC badge was worn by members who had taken part in the 1915 Gallipoli campaign. This was later extended to other members of the AIF who enlisted in 1914 through to 1918.

The “A” pin was to symbolise and recognise the birth of members of Australian and New Zealand forces who are now affectionately known as the ANZACs.

It is believed that the “A” pin was worn by the ANZACs to proudly show they’re coming to the world that two of the youngest nations were now making a name on a global stage. The ANZACs proudly worth the “A” Badge

AIF Order No. 937 (November 1917) authorised the badge for the whole force and ordered that Ordnance instead of regimental funds supply it. Subsequent orders made the wearing of the badge compulsory and clarified the eligibility rules.

By November 1916, Monash (3rd Division) was able to report: “All who have a right to be called “Anzacs” among us are now wearing a metal “A” on the colour patches on the sleeves.” I believe if Monash were alive today, he would support

We have introduced the “A” pin for all ANZAC Day supporters, including families, friends, partners, and veterans.

The “A” ANZAC pin was difficult to recreate. Even with today’s technology, it was hard to replicate the font used for the “A”. We know the “A” was brass, and we have been able to replicate this part.

This year we are behind raising awareness for Veterans Mental Health and Open Arms. If any veterans are struggling, please contact Open Arms 24Hr 1800 011 046.
